The voting process in the Game Awards 2024 combined both jury and public votes to determine the list of nominees and winners in different categories.
Nominees and winners are determined by an international panel of over 100 media outlets and influencers.
Every participating outlet sends an unranked list of their top five choices in each category and the games that receive the most nominations become the official nominees.

The Game Awards 2024 Sales Spikes for Winners and Nominees
Several winning titles and nominees saw spikes in sales following The Game Awards 2024. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth sold 268% more than before.
ReFantazio sold 172% more. Astro Bot saw 61% sales boost because of the exposure that this event brings.
Even the titles that were not successful at major award ceremonies were seeing positive outcomes. Silent Hill 2 Remake was selling 43% more than before.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree saw a 38% rise in sales after the nomination.

The 2024 Game Awards crowned Astro Bot as the Game of the Year, with Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Metaphor: ReFantazio also nominated for this award.
Astro Bot also won the award for Best Game Direction. The award for Best Ongoing Game went to Destiny 2.
Melina Juergens took the prize for Best Performance, where she is credited for the performance in the role of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 in video games.
